Arson Task Force

Torched wheelie bins are distressing to occupiers and neighbours and divert crews from real emergencies. They can spread fire into homes where gas supplies have been ruptured and people have been severely injured or have died”.  “We advise people to only put their wheelie bins out on collection days and at all other times to store their bins in a secure area to stop them from becoming an easy target for arsonists”.

Trevor Hancox, of the Arson Task Force, said: “The majority of these mindless acts of vandalism occur between the hours of 6pm and midnight”.

Barbara Whitcombe, the Council’s City Warden Manager said: “We are glad to be able to support the Fire and Rescue Service in their efforts to educate people about the potentially life-threatening danger faced by them and their neighbours if they do leave their bins out”.

The Daily Mail – Tuesday, Sep 08 2009                                                      Wheelie Bin Theft

A green recycling bin which belongs to Peterborough City Council has turned up in Bulgaria, in the Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach.

The 240-litre bin was spotted by a council employee, while on holiday. Its new ‘owners’, who were using it to mix cement, had not even bothered to remove or conceal the identifying logo. Yesterday a council spokesman described the theft as outrageous and warned that householders must take greater measures to make their bins secure and keep their binsafe.

The SmartBracketTM and the SmartBracket-BinBayTM keeps your bin safe and can potentially eliminate all these and other issues, and as set out in detail on the ‘Products’ page following. With the bracket in place your bin is safe.
